About MeI started this blog today – June 6, 2009. Why? Not because I have a lot of time on my hands, which I don’t. And not because blogging is fashionable, which maybe it is. And certainly not because I think I can make any money blogging, which, by the way, is pretty difficult by all accounts. I’ve been an entrepreneur for 14 years, which is almost all of my adult life and a property investor for 5 years. In that time, I’ve made money, lost money (but not lost any hair), met a lot of people and made many friends. But most importantly I’ve learned a hulluva lot. So this blog is my place to organise all those hundreds and thousands of lessons into one place. And more importantly, share what I’ve learned with all you InterWebers. I hope I can help even one aspiring entrepreneur or property investor in some small way. Who Are You?A 30-something starter (but not always finisher) of small businesses and a property investor. I bought my first property in 1994, at the age of 22. The funds came from some shares my parents had bought for me when I was just a little kid. 20 years later they were worth enough to sell to raise funds for a first investment property. Since then I’ve bought and sold residential property many times over, each one generating enough profit to fund the next, bigger purchase. For a long time, property was really just a passive activity. My time has been spent starting and running a variety of businesses: exporting computer components and hardware, wholesale distribution of stationary products, corporate promotional marketing, various Internet-based businesses and business process outsourcing. All over a period of nearly 15 years. Some of those businesses have done incredibly well, others have failed. It’s in those failures where I’ve really acquired the knowledge to do it better and smarter next time around. People rarely learn much when things are going well. But the lessons from the bumps along the road are the ones that set you up for greater success. What will I find on your website? Some great information, tools and secrets about property investing and being a successful entrepreneur. And plenty of stories about my past and present business experiences. Anything else?Yeah – plenty more to come – like I said, I just started this blog today. Please feel free to comment, email me, ask questions, tell me how wrong I am — whatever. I’d love to hear from you. Thank you for visiting Propertylife.net!
